In 2010, a middle school in Huntsville, Alabama, decided to run a sex sting operation, using a 14-year-old girl as bait, to catch a boy suspected of sexual harassment in the act. It has now come to light that not only did the school unconscionably botch the operation, by allowing the boy to anally rape the girl without intervention, but they also tried to cover up the event after the school failed to prosecute the boy for his crime. The rape was surreptitiously entered into school records as “inappropriate touching,” and the boy moved to an alternative school.
Aside from the ludicrous fact that the school thought it was within their purview to use a student in this manner, the fact that the school decided to cover up the sodomy and allow the perpetrator to roam free is unforgivable. On top of that, the school basically left the female victim out to dry, by failing to provide any counseling or medical services to her following the horrific act. In good news though, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals has finally allowed the traumatized victim to bring a lawsuit against Madison County for damages, though nothing can really repair the sheer generational damage this act of maleficent incompetence has endowed.
